Water and fluids for hemodialysis and related treatments

The water used for the preparation of hemodialysis fluids, usually comes from drinking tap water after it has been treated by suitable reverse osmosis devices. However, hemodialysis patients are "exposed" to a multiple volume of water (about 40 times the volume of water) during their treatment than the general population. For this reason, monitoring the quality of water/dialysis fluid is vital for patients.

Our laboratories are accredited by the National Accreditation System according to the ELOT EN ISO/IEC 17025 standard, as a Testing Laboratory for analyses of water, hemodialysis fluid and ultrapure hemodialysis fluid intended for hemodialysis and related treatments (Certificate of Accreditation No. 102).

We are the only laboratory in Greece accredited for all analyses and we provide reliable services, such as:

  • Determination of Bacterial Endotoxin content (LAL test)
  • Enumeration of aerobic microorganisms at 20°C ± 3°C
  • Determination of elements (lithium, beryllium, boron, sodium, magnesium, aluminum, phosphorus, potassium, calcium, titanium, vanadium, chromium, manganese, cobalt, iron, nickel, copper, zinc, arsenic, selenium, strontium, molybdenum, silver, cadmium, tin, antimony, barium, mercury, thallium, lead and uranium)
  • Determination of pH, fluoride, nitrate ions, ammonium ions, sulfates, Chloramine (Monochloramine), Permanganate Index (Oxidizability), free and total cyanide, chloride ions
