Chemical Water Analyzes for the Determination of Toxic Organic Substances

According to national law, the organic compounds to be tested in drinking water are:

  • Acrylamide (genotoxic and carcinogenic substance)
  • Benzene (myelotoxic and carcinogenic substance)
  • Benzo-a-pyrene (carcinogen)
  • 1,2 dichloroethane (carcinogen)
  • Epichlorohydrin (toxic substance)
  • Pesticides (pesticides)
  • Polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (benzo (b) fluoranthene, benzo (k) fluoranthene, benzo (n, i, i) perylene, and indene (1,2,3-c, d) pyrene), (carcinogens)
  • Trichloroethene and tetrachloroethene (mutagenic and toxic substances)
  • Trialomethanes (chloroform, bromoform, dibromochloromethane, bromodichloromethane) (mutagenic and toxic substances)
  • Vinyl chloride (carcinogen).

Our Laboratories are also accredited (No. Accreditation Certificate 102) and for chemical analysis of water and food samples for the determination of pesticide residues, polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons etc.

The use of modern analytical instruments is required for the detection and determination of the above substances and in order for the results of the analyzes to meet the specifications of the legislation for the analysis of the parameters, in terms of accuracy, fidelity and detection limits.

Our laboratories are equipped with state-of-the-art gas chromatography systems with all types of detectors (GC-MS, GC-ECD, GC-NPD, GC-FID) and with a configuration that meets all the requirements for the validity and accuracy of the results. , so that they comply with the legal requirements.

In addition, with the “purge and trap” system that is available in our laboratories, it is possible to perform analyzes for volatile substances (benzene, tri & tetrachloroethene, trihalomethane and vinyl chloride), according to the internationally accepted standards (ISO 15680, EPA 524 and APHA 6200).

The analysis of pesticides from our laboratories includes 115 different active substances and metabolites, from all categories of widely used pesticides (organophosphates, pyrethrinoids, carbamates, organochlorines, triazines, brazenoyls, triazolines, triazoles, diazolins, triazolins, triazoles, triazolins, triazolins, triazolins, triazolines).

Our scientific staff with its long experience, combined with the entirety of the required equipment, gives us the confidence that we can fully support a water quality control system,  in order to ensure that the water that consumers drink is safe.
